Welcome to the 7th annual Funniest Person in Memphis contest.

The Funniest Person in Memphis Contest will be judged on originality and of course how funny you are. If you work too blue/dirty, that can hurt you.

THE PARTICULARS:

• There is no charge to enter the contest.
• Everyone gets 5 minutes.
• The Contest will be held at Minglewood Hall’s 1884 Lounge on Madison ave in midtown-memphis.
• All shows start at 9pm
• The top 15 of the 40 spots (20 per round of 2 rounds) will move to the finals on Tuesday July 31, 2011.

THE DATES:

• Round 1- Tues July 17th $5 tkts
• Round 2- Tues July 24th $5 tkts
• The finalists will be announced on Wed July 25th
• Finals-Tuesday July 31st- tickets- $10.

THE WINNINGS:

The winner wins $300 and a 10 minute spot on a Minglewood Hall show. 2nd place wins $100, 3rd place $50.

THE REQUIREMENTS:

Anyone who lives in and around memphis, has a sense of humor has not been involved with trying to overthrow the government of a 3rd world country.

Steve comes from an unconventional background. He was a cartoonist for the Houston Chronicles but knew early on that comedy was in his blood and would manifest itself in one way or another. He found that drawing cartoons was not nearly expressive enough for his exuberant personality and ventured onto the stage at an amateur night in a Houston comedy club.”So I went up and made fun of my ex-wife. That was easy.” He soon became a fixture at Houston’s Comedy Workshop where Sam Kinison and Bill Hicks launched their careers.

A Star Search semi-finalist, Steve is a veteran of virtually every cable comedy show, including A&E’s “Evening at the Improv,” Nashville Network’s “Crook and Chase,” Showtime’s “Comedy Club Network” and “Comedy All Stars,” “Caroline’s Comedy Hour,” TNN’s “Nashville Now,” “Music City Tonight” and “Funny Business,” VH-1′s “Stand Up, Stand Up” and MTV’s “Half Hour Comedy Show,” CMT’s “20 Most Redneck Moments” and CMT’s “Comedy Stage.”

Since joining KYGO 98.5FM’s morning show in Denver, Colorado 6 years ago, Steve (aka “Mudflap”), along with co-presenter Kelly Ford, has really made his mark on radio: – CMA Broadcast Personalities Of The Year 2002, 2004 and 2006; Radio & Record Magazine’s award for Best Morning Personalities; ACM award for Best Morning Show. They were nominated as Large Market Personality of The Year in the 2004 NAB Marconi Radio Awards and won the 2008 Marconi Radio Award for Large Market Personality of The Year.
